A starting point, not a rulebook
Your season can help narrow a color family. Your natural lip color, skin depth, lighting and preferred finish all matter too. Use these pairings as inspiration, then adjust them on your photo.
Warm, clear shades are a useful starting point. Try a sheer peach or coral and build only as much color as you enjoy.
Explore softer, cooler colors: a rose lip and a muted pink cheek can create a gentle, coordinated look.
Try warmth with a little earthiness. Terracotta and brown-based rose can be worn sheer or built into a richer look.
Compare clear reds and cooler berries. A bolder lip can pair with a light wash of blush; you control the contrast.

Test foundation on your jawline (not your hand) in natural light — the right shade disappears into your skin. For undertone: blue/purple veins suggest cool undertones (pick pink-based foundations); green veins suggest warm (pick yellow-based foundations); both suggests neutral. Cool undertones: berry, true red (blue-based), pink-mauve, plum, fuchsia. Warm undertones: coral, brick red (orange-based), peach, terracotta, warm nude. The same lipstick name (e.g. 'red') comes in cool and warm versions — picking the right temperature is more important than the color family.
Each season has its own best makeup palette. Springs glow in warm corals and peach. Summers shine in soft pinks and rose. Autumns look best in earthy browns and terracotta. Winters look striking in true reds, plum, and clear pinks. Within each season, the sub-season (Light/True/Bright/Soft/Deep) determines saturation and depth.
You can, but they'll be less flattering. Wearing colors outside your palette tends to wash you out, emphasize undereye circles, or make your skin look sallow. The closer the color is to your season, the better the result. If you love a color outside your palette, try it as an accent (eyeshadow vs lipstick) rather than the focal point.
